Should I rent my girlfriend's father's flat...even at an incredible discount?

Chinwe is not really my type. For one thing, she is on the plump side while I like slim girls. She is quite dark but my ideal is the fair complexioned type. But ever since one night that I kissed her on impulse, she started calling herself my girlfriend. I was not romantically attached at that point in my life so after she brushed off my attempts to correct her, she persisted and I let matters be. I have been struggling to get my chartered accounting qualification for a while now and quite frankly, I don't have the time to argue with this aggressive woman, who to be frank, apart from the physical 'deficiencies' is pretty much what I would look for in a woman.

Is the rent offer from
Chinwe’s Dad a trap?

Chinwe Right now, my full attention is to get the accounting certification, which in the multi-national where I work, will immediately translate into automatic promotion to management grade. At this level, I will have a car and driver, a company house, about three times my present salary and most importantly, healthcare for my family. So I will be able to easily take care of my mother who has a kidney problem.
So as I take care of my day to day job, which is getting more stressful, I have the psychological and financial worry of my exams and taking care of my dear sweet mother. The assurances of my boss that once I get the certification all my worries will be over is what is keeping me going.
With this plan in place, I was very careful of my finances and was very happy with the arrangement I had with my present landlord of paying my rent monthly. On some bad months, he would even give me credit. Then, disaster! He sold the house and I would have to find a new house in two months. This coincided with some very expensive payments for my mum's treatment. I had only N50,000 in my account. That cannot even rent a square metre not to talk of a minimum 2 bedroom flat I require because of my younger sister who stays with me.
I mentioned the issue to Chinwe who immediately arranged for me to see her Dad, who owns several flats in Surulere, an ideal location for my sister and I. After viewing several of the flats, I settled on a 2 bed flat although the 3 bed flats were a lot better but I could not afford it, even if as I hoped Chinwe's father gave me some time before paying the rent on the property.
By the time, I got to Chinwe's family house, it looked as if they were having a celebration as many cars were parked outside. I was ushered in to see 'Chief' as he was called by all but to my surprise, instead of a one on one meeting, there were several elders in the room. They asked for 'my people' and when I answered that I was alone, they looked surprised and there was murmuring of 'these modern boys'. I was then subjected to many questions on my lineage and other matters that were more personal than pertaining to the tenancy of the property. After two hours of this type of questioning the elders pronounced themselves as "satisfied". I now raised the issue of the flat and Chief offered me the beautiful 3 bedroom flat for the sum of N50,000 per annum, a flat that I knew was around N1m per year! He said that as "I was now his 'son' money should not come between us.
I was shocked! What have I gotten myself into? Should I take this offer? Is there something behind it?
